Build Diary: Week Two (How Much Have We Spent?)

Build Diary: Week Two (How Much Have We Spent?)

by

Caroline Zook

One the most amazing things about building an online business is how low you can keep your expenses (especially when you're FIRST getting started).

We're trying to spend as little money as possible building Wandering Aimfully, but we also want to

invest

in this business. We want to set ourselves up with equipment and products that can deliver the quality and value we're striving for.

In our first tools post

we talked about the three products that helped us kick this build off, but since then we've paid for a few more things. In the video below we dive into further detail (you can also see a list of the gear and products at the very bottom of this post).

Also discussed in this week's build diary recap video is our self-mandated "R&R day." It's easy to fill every waking hour with work when you're working toward a big launch, but we've learned over the years that breaks are incredibly necessary during a journey like this. Who got their nails done last weekend? Was it me? 💁🏻‍♂️💅🏻 You'll have to watch the video to find out.

And lastly, Caroline opens up about some self-doubt that crept in this week as she was doing some design work. How'd she get through it? Watch and find out...

If you're interested in the gear we purchased, here's the current list of goodies. Some of these links are affiliate links, but we're obviously not forcing you to buy everything... okay, maybe you have to buy 90% of this stuff. Jk. Jk.

Here's the gear we're using to record behind the scenes stuff

Canon 80D DSLR Video Camera

40mm 2.8 Lens

(amazing value!)

Extra Camera Batteries

Manfrotto Compact Tripod

RODE Boom Mic

(huge for our big open room)

Boom Arm and Mic Stand

Tascam 100 Audio Recorder

RODE Broadcaster Mic

(for the upcoming show)

SD Card Case

Camera Bag

(for my OCD!)

(We'll probably have another post or two devoted to gear, especially as we get ready to start recording The Wandering Aimfully Show and podcast.)

Here are the tools and software products that are/will be running Wandering Aimfully

Airtable

(content organization and schedule)

Flywheel

(for the upcoming Wandering Aimfully site)

Squarespace

(for this site)

Asana

(project management)

GoSquared

(analytics that aren't ugly)

Later

Creative Market

(little branding elements)

Peter McKinnon Sound Pack

(sound effects and supporting a fellow creator)

Adobe XD

(what Caroline is designing Wandering Aimfully with!)
